Age Concern Isle of Man and Barclays Wealth help drive digital inclusion

30 June 2010

Age Concern Isle of Man's work to promote digital inclusion has taken another step forward thanks to Barclays Wealth.

The bank has funded the purchase of five laptops and a printer for use in the IT suite of the charity's CHAT (Community, Health, Advice and Training) bus.

Age Concern Isle of Man chief executive Penny Creighton MBE said: 'I'm delighted that Barclays Wealth has been such an enthusiastic supporter of the CHAT bus from day one. Demand for our digital inclusion programmes continues to grow, with more than 7200 clients a year visiting our Lifelong Learning Centres each year. By providing the funding for these laptops Barclays Wealth is making a valuable contribution towards ensuring everyone has access to the exciting new world of communications technology.'

Barclays Wealth managing director Greg Ellison said: 'We are pleased to have provided financial support to further Age Concern Isle of Man's pioneering work in the field of digital inclusion. Our business has a long-standing tradition of supporting the local community in ways that empower people and encourage greater independence. Access to communications technology can help make positive change; together with Age Concern Isle of Man Barclays Wealth is proud to be helping bring about that change.'
