A celebration of teamwork and partnership

22 December 2009

Alongside the formal business, Age Concern Isle of Man’s AGM held on Thursday December 11 was a celebration of teamwork and partnership.

Chief executive Penny Creighton MBE paid tribute to ‘Team Age Concern’ for their hard work, commitment and enthusiasm that was helping ‘create an age-friendly society where every older person counts’ and she thanked the charity’s many partners – including the DHSS, DoLGE and DTI, Ramsey Town Commissioners, Manx Telecom, AXA Isle of Man, Microgaming, Bradford and Bingley International, Zurich, Shoprite, Isle of Man Newspapers, Manx Radio, Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service and Isle of Man Constabulary - for their invaluable support.

2009 had been the year that had seen Age Concern’s Lifelong Learning computer centres attract more than 7200 clients, while 2010 would be distinguished by the arrival of the CHAT (Community, Health, Advice and Training) bus, an ambitious project developed jointly with Isle of Man Newspapers and made possible largely due to generous financial support from Microgaming and Protours Isle of Man.

The AGM also provided the opportunity to recognise volunteers’ long service and to present Rebecca Foster with the Day Centre Employee of the Year award and day centre manager Helen Champion with the Employee of the Year award.

The meeting was followed by a Christmas lunch during which a raffle raised more than £300
